Champions for Religious Liberty

St. Michael Lutheran Church in Portage has been working with the LCMS’s Lutheran Center for Religious Liberty and we are moving toward entering into their “Champions for Religious Liberty Network” (or for short, “Champions Network”) and becoming a “Champions Church” (https://www.lcrlfreedom.org/champions). The Champions Network is our LCMS’ response to the assault on fundamental American rights, including our religious freedoms, our right of conscience with regard to the sanctity of human life, the biblical definition of marriage and the family, gender identity issues, and what our children are being taught about these things in our public schools. The Champions Network educates and connects Christians to engage culture and government from a Lutheran “Two Kingdom” perspective and a Biblical worldview.

LCMS pastor Mark Frith is the National Director for the Champions Network and will be coming to St Michael on October 5-6, 2024 as we host a “Liberty Weekend” event. On Saturday, October 5 from 9-Noon, Rev. Frith will provide a Two Kingdoms lecture on why Christians should engage with culture, the principles of religious liberty, how we can interact with culture for its benefit and the church’s saving mission. Lunch is included and will be served from Noon – 1:00 pm.

We would love to have you and anyone from your congregation join us for the October 5th lecture and lunch. You can RSVP by September 30, 2024 at this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSecHdQ1Ta0QSC2ia76IuB9n8QxbALuqn_NnPt-nlUlAJuxs2w/viewform. I’ve also attached a brochure from the Lutheran Center for Religious Liberty about their Champions Network as well as a flier for the October 5 event. Feel free to make copies of these fliers for use in promoting the event to your congregation.
